Message from Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the Day of German Unity, 3 October 2015
Twenty-five years of German unity. 3 October 2015 is an occasion for us Germans to celebrate, but also to look back with gratitude.
Back when the Helsinki Final Act was signed 40 years ago, we Germans and our neighbours were already witnessing the advent of a new era in European relations.
The German Embassy, in cooperation with the Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah, is proud to present Ivan Gotsa, Accordion Maestro. He will hold a concert in Yarmouk Cultural Centre at 7.30 p.m. on 8 October 2015. Please make sure to arrive in time, as seating is limited and there will be no reserved seats except for diplomats and special guests.
"At this moment, Germany is temporarily resuming border controls at the Schengen internal borders. The controls will initially be concentrated on the German-Austrian border.
This action is intended to contain the current influx into Germany and resume orderly procedures for entering the country. This is necessary for security reasons and is also required by the Schengen Borders Code.
