Period of stay in Schengen area

The Schengen visa allows the holder to a total stay of up to 90 days within a period of 6 months. If you get a multiple entry Schengen visa, you may leave and return any number of times within the 180-day period, but the combined stay within the region must not total more than 90 days. Important is the date of the actual entry, not the beginning of the visa validity.

Example:

Date of first entry: 01.03.2010
Stays: 01.03. to 10.03.2010 and 15.05. until 02.08.2010 (90 days)
The period of 6 months ends on 31.08.2010

After that date, immediately a new entry is possible. The date of re-entry would then be automatically the date of the new 6-month-period, in which the holder of the Schengen visa must again hold a maximum of 90 days. Between the end of the first six months and the beginning of the next six months must always be a departure and return into the Schengen area (at least 1 day).

Please note that you can only apply for a Schengen visa at the German Embassy if Germany is your main destination and if you are residing in Kuwait. You will have to provide the Embassy with documentation proving that Germany is your main destination (e.g. hotel reservation, flight itinerary, proof of property in Germany). Failure to provide proper documentation will result in the denial of the visa application.

The German Embassy represents the Embassies of Finland, Iceland and Norway in consular affairs and issues visas to these countries.
