Lord Mayor of the City of Stuttgart visits Kuwait
On the occasion of the day of German Unity the Lord Mayor of the City of Stuttgart, Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, visited Kuwait from 3 – 5 October 2009.
In the context of his visit Dr. Schuster underlined, that the City of Stuttgart is aiming to attract more tourists and patients from Kuwait. The Medical Academy of Stuttgart offers training and skill enhancement for physicians and nursing staff. Furthermore it would be possible to delegate physicians from Stuttgart to Kuwait for medical treatment of Kuwaiti patients.
Sheikha Fariha visits Germany
From 23 – 30 April 2009 H.E. Sheikha Fariha Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Mubarak Al-Sabah, Chairperson of the Supreme Committee of the Ideal Mother Award, visited Germany.
Sheikha Fariha paid a visit to the Islamic Center in Berlin and got a general idea of the activities of the muslim community in Germany. A meeting with Mrs. Heidi Knake-Werner, Senator for Integration, Labour and Social Affairs of Berlin as well as visits of social facilities of the City of Berlin were part of the programme.
Sheikha Fariha dignified this visit as an important contribution for the consolidation of the cooperation and bilateral relations between Germany und Kuwait especially in the field of social affairs and women’s rights.
German-Kuwaiti Joint Commission on Economic, Trade and Technichal Co-operation
The German-Kuwaiti Joint Commission on Economic, Trade and Technichal Co-operation meets for the first time in Berlin – Federal Minister of Economics & Labour, Glos, receives Kuwait's Minister of Commerce & Industry, Al-Abdullah, for a closing meeting.
Upon completion of the first meeting of the German-Kuwaiti Joint Commission on Economic, Trade and Technichal Co-operation from 20 – 21 November 2008, Federal Minister of Economics & Labour, Michael Glos, received Kuwait's Minister of Commerce & Industry, Ahmad Yaqoub Baqer Al-Abdullah, for a dialogue on 21 November 2008 in Berlin.
Director General Political Affairs of the German Foreign Office visited Kuwait
Dr. Volker Stanzel, Director General Political Affairs of the German Foreign Office, visited Kuwait on Monday, 16. June 2008, to brief the Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the results of the mission of H.E. Mr. Javier Solana, the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign & Security Policy, who has presented to the Government of Iran a new offer from E3 + 3 (Germany, Great Britain, France, USA, Russia and China) to hold Uranium production activity. Dr. Stanzel met Kuwaiti press representatives and stated that the visit to Teheran achieved modest results.

Guest Programme of the Federal Republic of Germany
Major General Sulaiman Fahad Al-Fahad, the Assistant Undersecretary for Border Security Affairs of the Ministry of Interior, visited Germany from 25th to 30th May 2008 on invitation from the Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, Mr. Gernot Erler.
In addition to MajGen. Al-Fahad, seven other representatives from neighbouring Gulf countries were invited by the German Federal Foreign Office to discuss common issues on ‘Maritime Protection’. The visit took place within the framework of the guest programme of the Federal Republic of Germany.
During the six-day programme meetings took place in the German Federal Ministry of Defence, Foreign Office, Federal Ministry of Interior, State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein and Senate Chancellery of Hamburg. Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein are coastal States of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Federal Minister of Finance visited Kuwait
For the first time the Federal Minister of Finance, Mr. Peer Steinbrück, visited Kuwait from 19 – 20 May 2008, in response to an invitation by the Minister of Finance of Kuwait, H.E. Mustafa Hassim Al-Shamali. Minister Steinbrück had talks with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, Kuwait Stock Exchange, Kuwait Investment Authority and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met numerous Germany-interested business partners.
Minister Steinbrück’s stay in Kuwait was also dedicated to a visit to H.H. Prime Minister Sheikh Naser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in order to offer his most heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of His Highness Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
The bilateral relations have a solid basis, which is documented by mutual political visits and an exemplary bilateral trade. Germany is interested in a further commercial development and is prepared to play a part in new infrastructure projects of Kuwait. Furthermore Germany is interested to an accentuate exchange about the multifaceted finance sector, especially future challenges, as well as the German endeavors to combat money laundering and finance of terrorism. Possibilities of a cooperation between the finance sectors of Germany und Kuwait will be determined.
Minister Steinbrück was accompanied by a highranking business delegation, Members of the German Parliament and Journalists.

President of the German Bundestag visited Kuwait
The President of the German Bundestag, Dr Norbert Lammert, visited Kuwait from January, 8 - 10, 2008. He held talks with the H.H. Amir, H.E. the Speaker of the National Assembly, H.H. the Prime Minister and H.E. the Foreign Minister as well as Kuwaiti representatives of the business sector and the civil society.
German Business Delegation from Baden-Württemberg visited Kuwait
On November 28. 2007, a German business delegation from the German Federal State of BADEN-WUERTTEMBERG visited Kuwait. The business delegation represented such sectors as health, machinery/equipment, engineering, water management, fire protection and suppression, and children’s furniture. The delegation had a very successful meeting with Kuwaiti business people at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry which was opened by its chairman Ali Al-Ghanim. Afterwards, the opportunity to hold business talks with the representatives of the German companies was actively seized.

German Business Delegation visited Kuwait
Talks with H.H. the Emir, Kuwaiti Business People and Government Representatives
On November 4. 2007, a German business delegation chaired by the President of the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr Thomas Bach, visited Kuwait. The visit aimed at strengthening the economic cooperation between Kuwait and Germany . The German business people represented sectors like construction, information technology, health, education, and environment. The delegation participated in a meeting with Kuwaiti business people at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with government officials from the ministries of Oil, for Electricity and Water, and for Public Works for talks. In addition, H.H. the Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah and H.H. the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohamad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received the head of the delegation.
Delegation of the National Assembly of the State of Kuwait in Germany
From October 22-24. 2007 a delegation of the National Assembly of the State of Kuwait consisting of the members of the Kuwaiti-German Parliamentary Friendship Association visited . The delegation was headed by MP Mubarak Al-Khreinij and included MPs Mizel Al-Nimran, Dr Hassan Johar and Khudair Al-Enizi. They had a meeting with the State Secretary in the German Foreign Ministry, Mr. Reinhard Silberberg. The delegation also met with the head of the foreign affairs committee in the German Parliament, Mr. Ruprecht Polenz.
Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kuwait
Dr. ANGELA MERKEL, President of the European Council and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, visited Kuwait on February 6. 2007 . Her visit aimed at discussing international and regional developments and at further strengthening the friendly ties between Germany and Kuwait. The Federal Chancellor was accompanied by the Minister of Economics and Technology, MICHAEL GLOS, by five Members of the German Parliament, and a high-ranking business delegation.
Official visit of H.H. the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait to Germany
On an invitation by the Federal Chancellor, the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, H.H. Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah visited Germany between 6 to 8 September 2006. Throughout this visit, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister held talks with the Federal Chancellor and other German officials. As Kuwait was the partner country of the 9th German-Arab Business Forum, which was hosted by the German-Arab Association for Commere and Industry (Ghorfa) and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) in Berlin between 6-8 September 2006, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister gave the opening speech launching its activities.
Visit of the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Kuwait
The German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter STEINMEIER visited Kuwait on May, 20 and 21, 2006. Minister Steinmeier held talks with H. H. the Amir, H. H. the Crown Prince, H. H. the Prime Minister, and H.E. the Foreign Minister H. E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al-Sabah. Main focus of his talks were bilateral and international issues, in particular the Iranian nuclear programme. Minister Steinmeier paid a visit to the site of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET), where PAAET and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) cooperate in order to strengthen the vocational training in Kuwait. In addition, he was accompanied by a business delegation which held meetings at the Ministry of Energy (Electricity and Water), the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).
The German Minister for Economics Michael Glos visited Kuwait
The German Minister for Economics Michael GLOS visited Kuwait on May, 5 and 6, 2006. Minister Glos held talks with H. H. the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance H. E. Bader Mishari Al Humaidhi, and the Minister for Commerce and Industry H. E. Dr. Yousif Al-Zalzalah. Main focus of his talks were the further improvement of the bilateral economic relations. Minister Glos was accompanied by four German Members of Parliament and a business delegation of almost 50 people. The MPs held meetings with Kuwaiti parliamentarians. The business delegation participated in the German-Kuwaiti Business Forum that the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry had organised. Minister Glos held the keynote speech at that occasion.

Official Visit from Germany
Dr. Peter AMMON, Assistant Undersecretary for Economics and Sustainable Development in the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany visited Kuwait from February 27 to 28, 2006. His visit aimed at strengthening the economic cooperation between Kuwait and Germany in the public as well as in the private sector. Dr. Ammon was accompanied by the Managing Director of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), Dr. Martin WANSLEBEN.
Federal Minister of the Interior Otto Schily in Kuwait
Federal Minister of the Interior, Otto SCHILY, visited Kuwait twice in 2005, in April and in July. The focus of these visits was the bilateral cooperation in the security field and in the struggle against terrorism. An important result of the visit was that Kuwaiti nationals can obtain their visa faster than in the past.
Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in Kuwait
Gerhard SCHRÖDER, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, paid a visit to the Gulf region from 27 February to 5 March 2005. Representatives from the political sector, business, media and culture accompanied him. He visited Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Yemen. It was the first official visit of a German head of government to Kuwait. The visit strengthened the friendly ties between Germany and Kuwait and was particularly aimed at further improving the bilateral business relations.
