German business delegation visits Kuwait

An economic delegation from the German health sector visited Kuwait from January 31 until February 1. During the visit, the companies got first hand information about business opportunities in the health and medical sector in Kuwait.

Exhibition "Mosques in Germany" opened in the Grand Mosque

On 8 December 2009, the Undersecretary in the Awqaf Ministry, Dr. Adel Al-Falah, and the German Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Michael Worbs, jointly opened the exhibition "Mosques in Germany" by the German photographer Wilfried Dechau in the Grand Mosque.

Wilfried Dechau travelled through Germany during the past year in order to capture places of worship of Islam in Germany in their urban context: His photos show the interior of the mosques, Friday prayer, imams, children, men and women.

The exhibition was opened to the public until 15 December 2009 in the Grand Mosque.

Seminar on the collapse of the Eastern Bloc in Central Europe and its international dimension

The German, Hungarian, Polish and Austrian Embassies organized in cooperation with the Kuwait Diplomatic Institute, the College of Social Sciences of Kuwait University and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation a seminar on the collapse of the Eastern Bloc in Central Europe and its international dimension in the Kuwait Diplomatic Institute on 9th November 2009.

Bayt Abdullah Charity event held at German Ambassador’s residence

Under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Michael Worbs, the German Ambassador to Kuwait, the German Business Council GBCK, and GLOK the German Speaking Ladies of Kuwait, together organized an event on November 5th 2009 at the ambassador’s residence to raise funds for Bayt Abdullah (KACCH) in Kuwait.

A large number of dignitaries, decision makers and members from diverse communities in Kuwait graced the event, that started by a piano concert, followed by a seated dinner and an exclusive raffle The proceeds raised from this event will go to support the building of a specialized center that provides medical care for children suffering from cancer, a children's hospice "Bayt Abdullah".

The event was a great success with proceeds amounting to 6,000.-- KWD being donated to „Bayt Abdullah“.

20 Years since the Fall of the Wall

On 02.11.09 the German Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Michael Worbs, together with the Hungarian and Austrian Ambassadors as well as the Secretary General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Mr Bader Al Rifai, held the opening ceremony for a joint exhibition project in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the dismantling of the Iron Curtain between Hungary and Austria and the subsequent Fall of the Berlin Wall.

The two exhibitions "Escape to the Freedom: Dismantling the Iron Curtain and the Miracles in Central Europe 1989" and "From the Peaceful Revolution to German Unity" were shown in Hall No. 6 at the Kuwait International Fairgrounds in Mishref from 02.11. to 05.11.09.

Reception on the occasion of the Day of German Unity

On the occasion of the Day of German Unity, the German Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr Michael Worbs, hosted a reception at his residence on 4 October 2009 in the presence of Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, Lord Mayor of the City of Stuttgart. The reception was attended by many members of the German community of Kuwait as well as by a large number of official guests from politics, economy and culture. Musical interludes were provided by Arirang quintet which had come from Germany for the occasion.
