Ambassador Eugen Wollfarth and his wife invited high-ranking representatives of the host country, the economic sector and the diplomatic corps to a very special piano evening at the residence on 29 November 2015. Both piano players, Liene Henkel from Latvia, who completed her studies at the Academy of Music in Riga, and her husband Andreas Henkel, who holds a degree of the Dresden University of Music, delivered a brilliant performance of an entertaining programme in front of a full house.
The enthusiastic audience was highly delighted by the repertoire of lovingly selected works of Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Robert Schumann and Peter Tchaikovsky and showed their gratitude to the musicians with standing ovations.
The highlight of the concert was without a doubt the amazing interpretation of the original version of B. Smetana’s “The Moldau”, composed specifically for piano played by four hands. During the following reception the guests had ample opportunity to talk to the musical couple and praise their impressive performance, which had left the audience truly amazed, thus concluding a perfect evening.Enlarge image (© Botschaft)
